Guidelines for Participants

Ogeechee Audubon’s bird walks and field trips are a great way to learn more about resident and migrating birds in the Savannah region and beyond. They are also a great way to meet other people who share your interest in birds and the outdoors. Beginning birders are welcome on our trips. Come learn about birds from enthusiastic volunteer field trip leaders. Unless otherwise noted, our field trips are free and open to the public (unless stated otherwise).

Ogeechee Audubon does NOT provide transportation to, from, or during any programs or field trips. Individuals are free to arrange their own carpooling if they wish.

What to bring

In order to full enjoy your birding experience with us, please bring the following to all field birding activities:

  • binoculars

  • hat

  • sunscreen

  • bug spray

  • water

  • snacks or lunch

Weather

Ogeechee Audubon birding activities go on as scheduled in a drizzle or light rain. The activity will be CANCELLED with a downpour or if there is thunder/lightning at the start of a trip.

Unfortunately, we don’t always know the severity of the weather in advance and therefore the decision to cancel a birding activity may be made in the field. If there isn’t a designated leader for the activity, please use abundant caution during inclement weather.

Last minute concerns? Please contact us or check this site or our Facebook page prior to each field trip to be sure there are no changes to the scheduled field trip.

During any Ogeechee Audubon event, images/photographs of attendees may be captured for advertising and promotional purposes. By attending the event you are granting permission for your image to be used.
